Data Protection & Cyber Security
Specifically designed for Sports Organisations & NGBs
Sports Organisations from NGBs (National Governing Bodies) and Grassroots Sports Clubs and their technology suppliers are as vulnerable to cyber-attacks and data breaches as any other business but in addition, they are vulnerable to specific cyber-attacks and attempted data breaches simply because they hold sensitive personal data of athletes.
Our specific experience with sports organisations of all types means that we can offer highly specific and robust advice that isn’t just theoretical, but user tested. We help organisations identify their own specific data protection risks and then, as required help them implement appropriate measures to counter those risks. The language used by sports organisations is very familiar to us, so we become effective very quickly once engaged.
By working with sports organisations such as Commonwealth Games England, Sport Wales, English Ice Hockey Association and other sports including hockey, football, netball, cycling, bowls, swimming, surf life-saving, tennis, and many more, we have built up an extensive working knowledge of how we can help you to build your compliance and protect your data.
Whether you represent a National Governing Body, a grass roots club, other deliverer of sport or a technology supplier (Sport Tech) to the sector, your organisation has a responsibility to protect the personal data it processes.
We help organisations in this sector to better understand, document and adequately protect the personal data they are responsible for. We work alongside organisations as they build their own data protection and GDPR capability and capacity.
The sector continues to deploy digital technology at pace to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency. If not well implemented and managed these very same tools and services can increase the risk of successful cyber-attacks and lead to data breaches. Wherever your organisation sits in the sports supply chain, the risks of successful cyber- attacks must not be underestimated. We support organisations to become cyber-safe organisations.
Chris Roberts at Cybata, in collaboration with Mostyn Thomas at Astrix Integrated Systems, provided invaluable support to Commonwealth Games England (CGE) with our aim of mitigating cyber risk as much as possible.
The team provided CGE with a comprehensive and detailed Cybersecurity Assessment Report. This report, written in a non-technical manner, enabled us to understand cyber threats and also provided a series of recommendations for each one. Armed with the report and Cybata’s expert assistance, CGE is now Cyber Essentials certified.
Cybata’s services also consisted of a valued presentation to the board and facilitation of a classroom Cyber Security Awareness training course which was well received by staff across the organisation. In the complex and ever-changing world of cyber security, I highly recommend you reach out to Chris and Cybata.

This specific GDPR Training course is intended for anyone engaged in the management of a private individual’s information within their everyday role and supplies a GDPR overview.
Delegates will learn the essential standards and procedures under the legislation and what their duties and obligations include.
Although essential, GDPR training doesn’t have to be a chore, and this session will hopefully make you want to know even more.
Not every training session can be squarely placed into a box. Some cross lines, others need a highly-industry specific touch. And, that’s what we do with our detailed and specific courses and training sessions.
Sessions can be held in-person or online, and broken down into smaller bitesize sessions. Everything is customisable apart from the facts and the the outcomes.
